Who we are

The Legal Social Mobility Partnership ('LSMP') is a volunteer led, self-funded collaboration of over 70 law firms, blue chip companies and professional sports teams.

It is dedicated to broadening access to the solicitor profession by delivering work insight, skills training and ongoing alumni support to secondary state school students who would not otherwise have access to the legal world.

The LSMP runs schemes in London, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Bristol, Brighton and Reading, successfully unifying efforts to promote social mobility in the solicitor profession through partnerships with Aspiring Solicitors, the Solicitors Regulation Authority, Prime and the Sutton Trust.

Objectives

The programme's objectives are to:

  • Break down both social and psychological barriers to entering the legal profession for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds;

  • Develop students' presenting, interviewing, influencing, resilience and negotiating skills;

  • Arm students with ammunition for CVs/Personal Statements and anecdotes to populate answers to competency questions asked at university and job interviews.
